“I am taking pictures in the rain of the bridge in Chattanooga for inspiration. I started painting a year ago. I was diagnosed with COVID the first week of January and couldn’t sit still for ten days. I got out my daughter’s Walmart paints and tried something new.
I have a lot of artist friends, and one does online painting videos. I started watching them and following along. I realized I could paint. I used to work for Sherwin Williams and mixed colors, but I never painted. I may have done some of this as a child, but I didn’t know. At first, it was hard to have people see my work and think it was good. It’s still a little emotional.
I quit my job three years ago. I have vacation rentals and I am basically the cleaning lady and gardener for those. I love to grow zinnias, and now I paint them. I also foster kittens and puppies for the Humane Society.
I will be 54 in April. It’s a good time to open up.”

Thank you for encouraging us to realize it’s never too late to try something new.
You’re just fabulous! Congratulations on your self-discovery!
Have you seen wreaths made from pine cones? The pine cones are cut off and painted different colors. I have pine cones and want to try. I like zinnias too.
