Brooks: We’ve been following the Avett Brothers for the last seven or eight years. Tanner is five years older and got me into them. He made the shirts because he’s the better brother, and I’m the one our parents love most. This is pretty accurate .

Tanner: Brooks is a raft guide in Colorado, so he’s all over the place. I live in Georgia, but the Avett Brothers music brings us back together. We send each other songs and lyrics. I may not understand what Brooks is going through, but I understand his emotions better whenever he sends me a song.

Brooks: We used to fight like cats and dogs, but we’ve gotten a lot closer. On the face, we couldn’t be more different. Tanner’s more practical and logical. He sells insurance, and I’m the one who needs insurance. We’ve learned to embrace our differences because at the core we have a lot more in common.
