“I have been a crossing guard in New York for eight years. I stand out here every day in the sun, snow, sleet, and rain. The mamas can get impatient and sometimes honk or scream at me. But they are nice when the weather is nice. The weather affects the mood of drivers. I was almost hit once. They pull up texting, talking on the phone, putting on makeup, or eating their breakfast. I have to put on my hat and gear now because the kids are about to get out and this rain is not letting up.”
