The people I used to do drugs with or sell drugs to now see me here and ask me to pray for them

“My name is Anitra, but everyone calls me Tee-Tee. I am an ex-addict and have been clean for two years. I moved to Mississippi to live with my mom in the woods and recover from drugs. I stayed with her for a year and two months. I knew God had taken my addiction from me, but I wanted to be strong enough to return to Chunchula and never do drugs again. I got a job at the Plunder Box, and the people I used to do drugs with or sell drugs to now see me here and ask me to pray for them. I stop everything and pray. I also write their names in my prayer book and pray for them every afternoon.

I’ve gotten clean before, but I just swapped one addiction for another. I would quit drugs and then eat and drink more. It’s a cycle, but when God takes you in, he takes on your addiction. You also have to change out the  people and places in your life to get clean and stronger.

Some people who come into this store have seen me at my worst. Now I want them to see me at my best.”
