“We have been pumping gas and taking care of cars in Prichard for fifty years. I always wanted a business and to do this with my brothers. This building came up and I bought it. I was buying a new car every two or three years and realized the value wouldn’t drop on this building like the cars I was buying. I was 25 and never thought it would have lasted this long. It paid off. A lot of places like mine are gone. My brothers still pitch in.
This area has changed several times during all of those years. There used to be a drugs store, a grocery store, and a doctor’s office across the street. They closed and for a while we were the only business left, but the area is beginning to come back.
I love taking care of my customers. A lot of them are old folks from this area who have always supported me. Their children and grandchildren call me uncle and now come here. That means a lot to me. I am so thankful for my brothers and to be a part of this community that still takes care of one another.”
