We meet here and have breakfast and talk every Tuesday

September 2, 2016
“We meet here and have breakfast and talk every Tuesday. We have been doing this for two-and-a-half years. We both like talking about spiritual things. We talk about football but don’t get crazy about it or filled with rage. This time is meaningful for me. I grow when I am with him. I can bounce questions and thoughts off of him and he gives me thoughtful feedback. Without this, I stop growing and when I become stagnant it is not a good thing.

“It is the other way for me. I am retired and this is what I do.”

“We need these face-to-face connections and human contact. People become isolated. We talk about how we are helping other people. It keeps me out of my head. Going out and doing for others is when I am growing and making a contribution to society. For many years I was self-centered and I can’t go back to that. I have given up a lot of things, but what I have gained is far greater. There is so much opportunity for people like us to get out and help. Now it gets hard to say no. I am a Whitespunner and married into the Leatherbury family. I am related to everyone in Mobile but grew up in Ocean Springs. I love anywhere I can see the water. It is good for my soul.”
