Tell Mobile thank you. We will be back for fun next time.

September 9, 2017

“We are from Jacksonville. We lived in Hong Kong and the Philippines for years and went through typhoons over there. It is completely different on this side. Hong Kong can withstand everything, the power lines are underground and you can get everywhere underground. You feel safe there. The Philippines has disasters but all of the hotels have generators because the power goes off all of the time and the AC and lights stay on. There isn’t the same infrastructure in Jacksonville so we had to learn to leave. We left on Friday at 3 a.m. and brought the dog and a few clothes. I didn’t think we would be here long and now I think we will be here through Wednesday. We are going out today to buy a few things.

We love Mobile. The people are lovely. Mobile is more progressive than we expected and you can walk downtown. Dogs are allowed so many places. We walked into a bagel place and they had doggie treats so we got to take Lucie in. There have a dog biscotti and we are going to try that tomorrow.

It’s not just us. We have talked to a lot of people who came for the storm and are liking Mobile. We are coming back. Art walk was so much fun last night. We are pretty happy with our evacuation. You have a gem and I will be preaching it. We are at the Battle House, it is gorgeous. We told friends checking on us that we aren’t having it too rough. Please tell everyone thank you for being so good to all of us coming in.”

Thank you for your kind words about our city. The south is sometimes looked upon as a bunch of red neck hillbillies that can’t even spell their names!! Your article was a ray of sunshine.

Thank you so much for your extremely kind words about my hometown! We are sad that you had to leave your home and fully understand those challenges being a coastal city ourselves. Unexpected as it is, we hope the rest of your stay in Mobile is as wonderful as you found it so far.

As you have already witnessed, Mobile is an extremely pet friendly town so, not only do we welcome the two of you, but “Luci” is welcome here also! Since you are staying at the Battle House, mobile’s pet friendly, premier hotel, I’m sure that you have discovered this already.

We all wish you and your home the best for surviving the hurricane and welcome you back at any and all convenient or “inconvenient ” times!

      Very sincerely y’all,

      Garrett and Stephanie Williamson

        Garrett,
I don’t know that you’ll remember me or my sisters, but our parents were great friends and we always enjoyed boating with them. I think about your family often and how your dad used to tease me about naming my first daughter Ivy (true story). Your mom always had so much energy and a smile. I hope you and your siblings are doing well. Please send them my best regards.

I have known the Bandy’s for years. Actually R.L. is my cousin from Ky. If they say they love Mobile then it is true. I am so glad they are having a manageable evacuation and a even happier time in your wonderful city.

Glad you are enjoying your time here given the circumstances surrounding your visit. If you feel like some college football this evening, Callaghan’s in Oakleigh will be hopping for the Auburn/Clemson game. Dog friendly and great burgers!

I am so glad that you enjoyed the great city of Mobile, Alabama. Don’t forget to go to the Peanut Shop, get an amazing sandwich from Sub King and if you’re looking for some great fried chicken go to Hart’s on Springhill Ave!

    Welcome!
You HAVE to try this: on the upper mezzanine, Royal Street side, you can stand on either side of the large arch, facing it, and speak in a soft voice and a person standing directly across on the other side of the arch can hear whatever you say with perfect clarity. It’s an architectual phenomenon that always makes me smile.
Of course, it doesn’t take much to entertain me.
Enjoy your stay, drive over to Gulf Shores if you have time.

Not buying this opportunistic plug of Mobile. Great city but Nobody left Jacksonville at 3am Friday. Totally fabricated publicity stunt. Mobile deserves better.

Adeline the freckle-footed poopalot says: Welcome to Mobile! Lucie, you are as cute as I am. Do you know where the dog parks near downtown are so you can go play? If not, go to Midtown Dog Parks on Facebook or look up Crawford Park and Public Safety Park on Google maps. Public Safety Park has a small dog area for little pups like you and me. Maybe I’ll see you there. Tell your parents thanks for the kind words. I hope when you get back to JAX your home is safe and sound. Love, Adeline
