I have had to break into my own car and the locksmith truck

November 28, 2016

“My family owns a locksmith company. I was a property manager for a real estate company when the market crashed and was laid off, so we started this company. We used my mom’s retirement money to start it 10 years ago. I never thought I would be doing this but I like it. It is being out and meeting new people and sometimes helping them out of desperate situations. They are in panic mode and I try to make it okay. I have had to break into my own car and the locksmith truck. The hardest part is working with my family. I also work in a man’s world. Sometimes people heckle me because I am a woman but I have become immune. We aren’t passed that. I remind them that they are the ones who called me. I am supporting the family right now because my husband is in pharmacy school and he is not working. Sometimes I feel like it is all on me, but that changes when he gets out.”
